With the fact that poker is one of the few card games that has gain enormous popularity in the world. We see more people playing poker each day. So we ask what drives these individuals to play poker. When we ask a person why they play, we get mixed answers, some would say they play for the cash, some would tell us they do it for the thrill, others say they play cause its plain fun. So what really drives these people to sit on a chair for hours and play poker? In my opinion as a poker player, people gain the fire of playing poker because of several reasons. It is true the top reason why majority of people play poker is the money. Since poker is a good and easy source of money. A good reason also for people to play poker is the fun and relaxing aspect of poker. A good drive that poker players have is it gives them good competition. Since everyone, would be more interested in a game if the game entails a good challenge to it. One aspect of the game which drives poker players is the psychological aspect of the game, where you try to manipulate the heads of your opponents. Also players play the game to socialize and meet new friends. Often times, these new friends you meet may forge a bond that creates long lasting friendships with one another. And lastly, the lust for bragging rights drives poker players to play, who wouldn’t brag about taking down a huge pot and end up winning everything your opponent have.
